Recharging With a Recore Mattress (plus a giveaway!)

Sleep has never been more important than it is now. As a new mama to a pleasantly curious and soon to be very mobile little girl, getting in a solid eight hours or more each night is not only vital for myself, but for the health and sanity of my whole family. And I’ve found that if we’ve been on the go, even if only for a weekend, relying on the comfort and familiarity of our own bed to give us that first restful night back at home is undoubtedly a key element of a happy family and home life.

That’s why when the nice folks at GoodMorning.com reached out to see if I was interested in reviewing their newest mattress called the Recore™, made of latex foam and boasting of full, restorative sleep, I was eager to give it a try. Read on below for my full review, plus a chance for you to win a brand new Recore™ mattress in the size of your choice at the end of this post (sorry, this one is for Canadians only)!

Functionality and Design of the Recore™

For those looking to avoid figuring out the logistical nightmare of getting a huge mattress from a store into a vehicle and then into a bedroom, the Recore™ conveniently comes rolled up in a box and is delivered directly to your doorstep (you don’t even need to be at home to accept your shipment if you select that option at checkout). Upon opening the packaging, the mattress can then expand onto a bed frame and be ready for use the same night (although the company does recommend giving it a full 24 hours for the mattress to completely expand).

One of the first things I noticed about the Recore™ is its design. Unlike most mattresses, the Recore™ is color friendly with a two-tone grey top cover and neon orange zipper which look undeniably cooler than the standard all-white mattress designs. The machine-washable top cover actually serves a more important purpose than just its look: silver-coated, antimicrobial thread is woven throughout the cover to keep the mattress clean and smelling fresh by preventing bacteria from building up. Underneath the cover, synthetic latex is used for responsive comfort and longevity without the risk of allergic reactions.

The latex is graphite-infused, which makes the mattress incredibly efficient at distributing heat. It has been neither too hot nor too cold - I’ve felt comfortable every night.

Thoughts on Firmness & Motion Transfer

The Recore™ is categorized as a medium-firm mattress, although I would say it is more on the ‘medium’ end of things. To be completely honest, the first night I slept on the Recore™ I thought the mattress was going to be too soft for my liking. But when I got into bed the second evening, I realized that the mattress had firmed significantly (I’m guessing it might just have needed some more time to fully expand).

For me, there was certainly a big difference between the first two nights and it was much more comfortable from the second night onward, although my husband said the firmness was just right for him from the first night on.

In regards to motion transfer, you can expect hardly any. Other than the design, this is actually my favorite aspect of the Recore™ and I suspect one of the main reasons why it’s marketed as being ideal for those who have been on the go all day and are most in need of a good night’s rest. I’ve barely felt my husband moving right next to me and have woken up feeling refreshed each morning.

The Recore™ 120 night Sleep Trial

One of the things I really like about the company is that they give their customers plenty of time to try out the Recore™ mattress with a 120 Night Sleep Trial. They ask that you test the mattress in your own home for at least 30 days before starting the return process. If after this time you’re still not satisfied with it, they’ll pick it up for free and issue a full refund. Of course, you can return it later than 30 days - as long as it’s returned before night 120 it’s within the sleep trial period.

Thankfully, mattresses which are returned don’t end up in the trash. Instead, the company donates them to local charities and organizations.
