Winter Sleigh Rides at Silver Sage Stables
For a quick family-friendly winter activity in the Okanagan Valley, look no further than Silver Sage Stables in Coldstream, B.C. (just 10 minutes outside of Vernon). This December they offered guests the opportunity to ride in horse-drawn sleighs across snowy fields, while enjoying the winter landscape.
Before and after the sleigh rides, visitors were encouraged to warm up with some hot cocoa and fresh baked cookies around a fire pit.
The sleigh rides take approximately 20-25 minutes and there are at least 3-4 sleighs running at a time, each holding about 15-20 people.
While there were already blankets on the seats of the sleighs, it’s a good idea to bring along an extra blanket from home to cover up with to protect from the cold. Snow pants and other winter gear (mittens, scarves, and toques) are essential to having a good time.
While not a very long activity, it makes for a fun time outside in the fresh air with the whole family, and is convenient for families with young children. After the sleigh ride, you can pose for photos with the horses.
Tickets cost $17.50 for adults, $10 for children 4-12 years, and ages 3 and under are free. Please note, children may be required to sit on the lap of a parent during the sleigh ride. Groups of six or more receive a 10% discount.
